Canine Coach

Canine Coach is precisely that — a program that brings Collegiate Canine’s head instructor to your home to “coach” your dog one-on-one while you’re at work or taking care of business elsewhere. Whether teaching basic manners or solving a long-standing behavior problem, this program is ideal for busy pet owners who love their dogs but don’t have time to tackle such training themselves.

The advantages

Canine Coach improves upon more traditional board & train programs in several ways. Not only will your dog be trained in the actual environments where the skills are needed most, but you won’t be paying for basic care that you can provide yourself. Best of all, you won’t be leaving your pet with strangers for weeks at a time.

Another benefit:  Canine Coach can provide exercise for pets that stay home alone while their people are at work, thus eliminating the need for a dog walker on those days when training sessions occur.

The process

Canine Coach requires the standard Assess n’ Learn appointment which, for this program, will also determine whether you and your dog are well suited for this type of specialized instruction. During our 90 minutes together, we’ll pinpoint goals, discuss customized training options, and teach you how to discourage old behaviors and support newly acquired skills during the early days of training.

Once you select the training “degree” that you desire, we work with your dog three times per week for the time period agreed upon in our training contract. In addition to written updates from each training visit, we also schedule brief Progress Reports at intervals pre-determined by the length of training. With you present, your instructor will answer questions, demonstrate what your dog has learned, and continue instruction in the integration of his developing skills into daily life. The longer Graduation appointment that you will attend also provides detailed guidance on how to reinforce and maintain all that your dog has learned. Ongoing email support is included in Canine Coach services, making it easy to address situations as they arise during the training period and beyond.

So you know

Canine Coach — which is structured with your time constraints in mind — offers maximum convenience and customization. Meetings with you are purposely short, and you are key to determining the focus of your training program.  If, for example, your pet is easily aroused by other dogs or leery of new situations, we’re happy to work with her at home or venture baby step by baby step into other places that you would like to take your dog to in the future.

We are passionate about problem solving whatever challenges present, so don’t hesitate to call for more details or tuition information.
